Girly Cocktail Greenhouse Re-do

Hello,

Inspired by the adorable cottage and garden sheds I've seen recently in my fav magazines, I set out last weekend to transform my unused greenhouse into a fun, girly cocktail spot.

First, I completely emptied the shed, swept out all the cobwebs (yuck), and wiped down everything with good old soap and water. Then, I applied a spider barrier around the perimeter of the greenhouse (no spiders allowed at happy hour).

Second, I "shopped" my house for cute decorative accessories (cheap and fun). I bought new cushion pads at Target for the wicker chairs that had been gathering cobwebs in the greenhouse ($9.99/ea). I really, really wanted a chandelier, but they were too much $$$. Since there's no electricity anyways, I opted for candlelight. I bought a pink birdcage at craft warehouse and hung a sparkly crystal tealight inside. So cute for only $15! I strung solar lights around the outside (they were hanging out front) and spent about $15.00 on plants and $20.00 for a "Welcome to the garden" bunny doormat I couldn't resist. The whole "redo" cost about $60.00.

Last came the fun part! I moved in and "rearranged" the furniture and accessories until I was happy with them. There was still enough room for 2 plant shelves that my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson planted veggies and herbs in (great family project).

The result was a fun, girly (and it turns out the guys like it too) cocktail greenhouse. We had friends over for our first "cocktails in the greenhouse" by candlelight. It was so fun-like an adult playhouse!

Can't wait to have coffee and read the paper in there on Sun morning while the rain pings softly on the roof.

Hope you enjoy!

Take care,

Di

Sprucing, sweeping, and spring cleaning

Hello,

I spent last Sunday in my booth at Antique World Mall sprucing, sweeping, and spring cleaning.

Even though Easter is weeks away, I was way behind the retail stores in putting out my Easter items. What was I thinking having Valentines Day merchandise still out on Feb 14!

The pretty black dresser I put out on Sun was gone the next day! Get it while it's hot I guess.

Happy spring cleaning!

Take care,

Di

Vintage Party Dresses

Hello,

With all of the upcoming Spring garden parties, weddings, and proms, why not buy a gorgeous vintage dress instead of something new this year. Buying vintage is hip, good for the environment, and ensures you'll never show up in the same dress as someone else. (This actually happened to me at a Christmas party where the other gal was 30 pds lighter and 10 years younger! Should have gone vintage that night!)

We have a fun little booth at the Annex called Boutique Rose that has pretty vintage dresses, sparkly shoes, and accessories. Stop by and visit sometime!

Take care,

Di
